Issue with making game

Recommended Posts

I have never had this issue before, and I have had 3 different worlds/servers with many being over 200 days of progress, but recently as I tried loading a prior game or even making a new world with caves in it, I always get an error that says "dedicated server failed to start: there was some kind of trouble starting up the server. How odd". This started to happen when I did the "anewreignbeta" and then switched back a couple of days later.

Does anyone know how to resolve this? For all I know, I never had any tools in steam to make a dedicated server, as i could make my own games right away. I even confirmed this with a friend, who was able to make games with caves in them. I play this on Steam, so any help would be appreciated.

I would like to get back to playing this right away and I dont want this to hinder my ability to play. I provided a screenshot that shows what happens everytime i try to make a game with caves.

Again, any comments or suggestions would be very helpful!!!

This is the first time ive had an error, would you mind helping me in how i would get to my logs?

Sure, sure, in Documents/Klei/DoNotStarveTogether (if you're on the live branch) or Documents/Klei/DoNotStarveTogetherANewReignBeta, the file is called client_log.txt and stores the information of any mods too.

*Update*, for some reason the game seemed to fix itself and I most certainly don't know why. But at least I am able to make caves again to all of my maps, so thanks!

Oh, that's lucky! I suspect it was either a hotfix issued or - if you did have mods - getting an update. I'm just glad it works, though logs can't hurt!

Yeah extremely! I've only used three mods, but I wouldnt have suspected them since they never crashed on me in the past and I kept them up to date. I'll post a log up to see though.

Sometimes updates actually bug. See, it's always a change: whether an update to DST or to a mod occurs, you run into the risk of issues. A log will list all mods, so you don't have to list them all manually (I wasn't aware of this early on and if @Muche hadn't helped me, I would have gone bonkers).
