ConeyKrab
The theory in question here: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/30554-my-theory-on-dont-starve/ So anyway, corresponding to this idea are some characters of my own creation. For fun, if nothing else. Wyenna (Why-en-uh)Title: The Hopelessly NeuroticQuote: "STOP WATCHING ME"Suffering/Theme: Self-Loathing/DysmorphiaDescription: Not mentally stable Doesn't eat much Mildly masochistic Nightmare proneWyenna's sort of a grim character, perhaps even by this game's standards. I haven't thought up a major specialty for her, but perhaps she doesn't need one; her major trait is majorly altering aspects of the game. She has a passive sanity drain that is always in effect. On top of this, her sanity is pretty low, as well as her hunger. But fear not! Her hunger drains really slowly. Now I'm sure that you're thinking she's an easy character; but life isn't all Meaty Stews and Dragonpies. You see, Wyenna loses sanity when she overeats. I'm not exactly sure how to do it, but perhaps in a x [1,5] + 2(x-5) [6,10], and so on type formula. To counter this, Wyenna can take to the razor blade (unless this is considered too graphic for the game) to exchange health for sanity. When sleeping, Wyenna loses less hunger, but it makes sense for her to gain less sanity. This could be accomplished in a few ways: She could just gain less sanity from sleeping, or she could have a chance to gain or lose sanity when sleeping, depending on how balance would play out.Backstory: This is very subject to change, but here's how she could know Maxwell without really knowing him: Wyenna is, well, insane. She spent a lot of her time in an asylum, and her outlook on life is pretty dark. One day when outside, she had a blackout of sorts. These things actually happen to people; she blacked out and lost control for a few hours, attacking Maxwell in the process. She has no idea what happened when she wakes up, and Maxwell finds himself an enemy when brainstorming people to suck into his world. This incident could be referenced by a newspaper clipping/headline.Quotes: Pig King: "It's like looking in a mirror."Crock Pot (long wait): "Good. I'm not hungry, anyway."Pond: "I can see my reflection... gross."Hounds Inbound: "It's the guards!"Birdcage (occupied): "I was jealous, so I trapped it."Failed to do something: "I'm not good enough."Hungry: "EVERYTHING'S FINE."Some turfs: "The world is in my hands. That's probably a bad thing."Hambat: "This is probably the best use for food."Lureplant: "Jokes on you, I don't even like food!"Battlecry: "You shouldn't fight someone who's got nothing to lose!" Wanda Title: The Entertainer/The WonderfulQuote: "This show ain't for free."Suffering/Theme: Jealousy Description: Incredibly charming Likes pretty things Should stay in the light/Is a victim of vengeanceWanda is a lot more simplistic than Wyenna, I promise! Her special ability is charming her world around her. She strikes a pose, a few saxophone notes play, and certain aspects of the world react. The balancing for this can be achieved in a few different ways. For one, the activation of this ability. The item could take up a slot, or perhaps even have its own key function, depending on its power. This obviously throws in the debate of giving up a hat, tool/weapon, or shirt/armor's affect, which could be devastating in the heat of combat. I guess if anything, the cost could be sanity and/or maybe it could possess a recharge time like Wendy's. Her special ability could cause some of the following: Pigs follow her for a while, the Pig King throws a few gold, birds flock around, less threatening mobs will choose to ignore you temporarily, nearby dangling spiders will drop from the ceiling (as opposed to right on your head), fireflies will make their presence known (more of a convenience/aesthetic than a practical affect), as well as tentacles, the list could go on. Wanda also has a fondness for gems, gold, and nice clothing. Maybe she could get more use from gold, have gems drop more frequently, and/or get slightly more sanity from classy clothing (and maybe less from "tacky/common" things?). She has a major downside though. Depending on the way the game's story progresses, she will have one of two...A: If Charlie indeed does become the night monster, Wanda will be attacked faster and harder by her. She also could lose more sanity in the dark.B: If Charlie somehow isn't the night monster, chess pieces and/or hounds will do more damage, and maybe hounds will come faster/in larger waves slightly earlier.Whichever it is isn't the concern here; don't focus on a the Charlie debate, please.Backstory: Wanda isn't exactly the... "purest" individual on the block, and I think it would be funny if the game danced around/referenced the subject. She's in the same line of "business" as Charlie, and the two aren't on the greatest of terms. In fact, the two fight whenever they meet. As of late, Wanda heard that Charlie got some steady gig with some loser (who cares who he is, he's gotta be a nobody if he picked her for the job). See, the thing is that Wanda's jealous of Charlie; she hates that Charlie has a gig, is so successful, and doesn't have to stoop to "cheap forms of entertainment". A reference to this could be a letter from Charlie to Maxwell, complaining about how she "ran into that nasty woman I told you about again". If Charlie becomes the monster, the two fight as usual. If Charlie isn't the monster, Maxwell will avenge her by being extra cruel to Wanda. She talks with a trashy/slangy dialect, but tries to act posh.Quotes: Charming (1): "Oh, if only someone would help me!"Charming (2): "Hey, whatcha got?"Charming (3): "Yoohoo!"Charming (4): "Hey boys!"Charming (5): "Gee, I'm so lonely!"Pig (following): "Lust is such a powerful tool."Top Hat: "Roll reversal! How risque!"Dapper Vest: "It's in this season!"Feather Hat: "Glamorous!"Straw Hat: "Do I LOOK like a farmer?"Beefalo Hat: "It smells and I hate it."Gold: "I should save some for when I escape."Blue Gem: "It's like a diamond!"Yellow Gem: "It's the flashiest thing I ever seen!"Purple Gem: "It radiates status!"Merm: "I've seen worse, believe me."Charlie: "Someone ain't happy to see me."Charlie (attacked): "YOUCH! That felt personal!"Maxwell: "I'm guessing he won't take a special payment?" I've got more ideas, but these two will do for now. What do you think? Malan-Tai
I like the 2. Maybe for Wyenne, add that when she's hurt by mobs, she gets a bit of sanity (about 5 or something).
