So apparently the last update dropped again

Yeah, I'm experiencing the same bug, I was playing the new update smoothly then I wanted to leave to save my world(about to fight a boss) then I go to load the world all of a sudden forced update, and re-rolls me back to the last update, now my world says "cannot connect to world- on a newer version" 

So, my day1600 world is actually just gone now…

i wasn't told to install anything? is this just for people who had the betabranch still turned on? i went back to the main branch like four days ago and i just checked my world right now with no issues

So jumped on and my worlds are also gone is this going to be fixed?

Same issue here, it was fine till the second update reverted it to 1.1.176.0 and now all my saves are from the future.

At least some of you still have worlds that are just unable to be opened. I botched the data sync when checking it before i left the first comment to this and got hit with the EULA of doom 

I have confirmed that once the update is fixed, your worlds will become playable again, I have done a test on a separate save that includes me downgrading and updating the game. And everything works perfectly fine, just be patient and wait until the update comes out.
