Skill attacks, such as Mother Treek's Roots, does not benefit from headgear that increases damage. This includes both standard damage buffs from Mothball Ushanka, as well as crit bonus damage from Floracrane Garland.

Wear Mothball Ushanka or Floracrane Garland.
Attack dummies with the Mother Treek's Roots.
Note the damage is not affected by the armor.
