So, I've recently started the long process of leveling three copies of every gem, for the sake of potential builds and build variety. And then I noticed that, once leveled, they're no longer sorting the same way they used to. The leveled gems of the same type aren't keeping together like they did while they were unleveled. You can see there's two Risky gems, and then the Critical Damage and Critical Chance gems, followed by another Risky gem, a Focus Damage gem, and another Crit Damage Gem, followed by the three Thorny gems. As you can imagine, this is EXTREMELY upsetting (not really) ((okay I'm like 65% kidding it actually does bother me)), and makes sorting through and picking out what gem to use unnecessarily difficult.
For reference, these ARE sorted by Type, and sorting by Level makes no difference in their order. I'm thinking what's happening here is that the gems are still storing excess experience values and sorting themselves accordingly, instead of grouping at max level with their own kind. I was mixing and matching different gems instead of using all three of the same type, EXCEPT for the three Thorny gems, which manage to stay together neatly. I have no idea if they'd separate again if I used an already maxed gem by itself and gained more experience, but it's clear without doing that that *something* isn't right here.
Also I know this isn't *exactly* a bug, but I'd call it halfway between a bug and a suggestion, that the sorting should be sorted (heh) out and the same gems should be grouped together once they're all max level. It's part of a greater suggestion I made about improving the somewhat clunky UI for selecting armor and gems, but that's a separate post and subject.
Not really something you need steps to reproduce, just use gems and do some hunts and maybe fail some hunts to get different experience values between them and then see that they don't sort properly like they do while unleveled.
