Losing Days/Progress When Returning to the Game

This is happening to me right now and it is such an annoyance. Please fix this klei.

I'm trying to figure out what specifically is causing the saving to stop working. Do you remember if you're just playing continuously during the sessions where this happens, or are you doing rollbacks, or anything else you can think of? Are you playing by yourself, or in split screen?

I don’t play in split screen so it’s just me solo or with some friends online joining my world. 

The common thread I have when saves have been lost is that I’ve had other players in the world. And yes, I think there might have been some rollbacks, it could be related to that too? It’s worth noting that I have had successful sessions by myself or with friends that would save just fine, 500+ days progress on my 3.6k ps4 imported save, since playing on the ps5 version.

I will keep an eye out if it happens again as to what was done in the session. I’ve also started to manually upload my game data/saves to the cloud after a session to see if this helps recover any data in case it happens again. 

Happend to me aswell multipe times, i hope they fix that soon

It hasn’t happened to me since I started using the temporary fix @CharlesB mentioned, which is to disconnect and use the rollback feature from the main menu instead of in-game. 

Hopefully they’re able to figure out what’s causing this problem soon. Otherwise, this method seems to be saving my progress so I’ll keep utilising it for now.

I’ve had it happen 4 times in the past week. 
 

I believe it happens when you make changes to the world settings and then roll back the server. I’ve had it happen when I’ve made changes, gone back into game, played some days, exited the server and then rolled back. When trying to enter the server again, I get a network error pop up message. If you log out of your account and then back in, you’ll see the server has rolled back significantly more days than you initially selected. I’ve also had it happen when you make world settings changes and immediately roll back before trying to enter game again.

 

My most recent save rolled back from 76 days to 13. Here’s how it happened:

On day 74 Leave the server > Log back in to DST > Host game > select world to join > go to Forest tab > change Tree Guard setting to more > press the start button start the server > play to day 77 > die > leave server > log back into DST > host game > go to forest tab > change tree guard setting to default > go to rollback tab > roll back to day 76 > press the start button to start the server > get network error, exit the host game menu> log out of DST > log back in to DST > host game. Result: server has been rolled back to day 13 and older, deleted worlds have reappeared in the list.

Unfortunately rolling back from the main menu seems to have stopped working for me. 😭 Dying and then rolling back has been causing some sort of save data corruption on my long term world. 

While playing today, I died a few times so I disconnected, rolled back from the menu and carried on playing. The problem is that none of the progress was being saved. Once I closed the game application and came back, the world reverted back to several days prior to the death happening. 

The only relief I found was to manually upload my save to the cloud every 2-5 in-game days, especially if I’ve made some progress I don’t want to lose. I’m having to play really cautiously now, not to mention, closing the game every half an hour just to make manual saves is really tiresome.
 

I think I fixed this problem but let me know if it is still happening after the next update, 2.004.002

Hi, still seems to be an issue as I lost 4 days of progress. Was farming CC yesterday, unfortunately died so I quit to main menu and rolled back to start of the day 4742. Carried on to day 4746 and disconnected. When I came back to play today, I was back at the start of 4742 again. 

It just happened to me. AGAIN! Hours of playing become nothing

Its hilarious that you people just mark it as fixed and ignore the fk out of it. Great work geniuses

Happened to me again today so still no fix I guess

This is still happening as of 1/9/26. I had a world that had just started my second Spring go back to day 52. Absolutely ridiculous. I play solo. Why has such a big issue not been fixed?

It happens to me to like a lot on my ps5. I think this has to do with the rollback because it only happens to me when I do a rollback. I just killed Celestial champion for the first  time yesterday and done like 4 rollback to kill him and I was on day 708. When I got back on my save whent back to day 680. I just lost a lot of progress. Now I have to kill Celestial champion again. My best bet is this has to do with the rollback I play solo and sometimes disconnect to make sure is saves but the glitch only happens when I do a rollback. I guess when you rollback to your last save it whipped any other save after the rollback or it deleted your last saves and the after ones. Big issue especially when doing a long play time and just loosing like 20 to 30 days of progress. I just really hope this gets fixed soon.

Update.... I killed Celestial champion again and didn't do a rollback. After I killed him which took 20 min then the game saved and I disconnected. Then I closed the game got back on then to see the game didn't save at all now I have to kill him a 3rd time. I think the game just doesn't save at all most of the time or you have just stand there for 30 days to make sure the game saves properly. The game saved 4 times while I was fighting him I guess the game just didn't count the save. At this point I might just give up on killing Celestial champion.

This is the WORST BUG EVER!!! I just spent hours and hours fighting W.AR.B.O.T, and you know how hard and frustuating that boss is. But then boom! I lost my ***** progress when rollback :). Got sent back to the ***** stupid fight

Seariously! Is Klei even gonna fix it? I don't wanna put all my time and effort in any more fight without knowing the progress is gonna be saved or not
