Can't Join A Friend's world

My PlayStation account is online, my friends account is online. Neither of us are appearing as "offline". I cannot join my friends world because the game says I am not friends with the host. On my main menu, it shows three of my friends names and his is one of them. We are on each other's friends list as "close friends". I have great ping to the server that I can't connect to.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Be on PS4

2. Try to connect to a friend's world in-game

3. You can't.

Are you able to connect to worlds hosted by your other two friends? Has your friend tried hosting a normal non-"friends only" world with a password, that you have been able to join either directly through the browser or with an invitation?
