Rovers are seen as the metal ore they were made out of which leads to them being stored as a resource.
This also affects the rover's module as a rover can be loaded into it multiple times to create the rover and the lander (causing the game to crash when the rover module is dismantled).
Screenshots show rovers stored in storage bins as Gold Amalgam and also a rover released inside the solo spacefarer nosecone.
1: Create Rovers module and watch the dupes add resources so you know what ore they are using.
2: Deploy the rover from orbit.
3a: Land with the rovers module on the asteroid you deployed the rover and watch as the dupe uses the rover to build a rover and rover lander.
OR
3b: Build a storage bin and set it to the Metal ore the rover is made of and then check inside the storage.
