Insufficient Space Error when writing to disk

Rocketfalls
  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Windows Pending

I've been receiving this error on starting this game after installing mods. I've previously gotten rid of the error just by going to the mods folder and manually deleting a mod there, but I'd really like to be able to make use of the mods I want to play with. There is plenty of space on my drives, and I have disabled automatic backup of any folders via OneDrive. What else could be the source of the issue?

Steps to Reproduce

Starting the game.

Previously had this issue and solved it by manually deleting mods from the folder, went fine for a while even after installing some new mods. I was playing the game just fine yesterday and have not added any mods since, but starting the game today is producing this error. OneDrive backup is disabled and there is space on my drives.

It looks like a permissions issue. Try restarting your computer, checking controlled folder access, and any virus/security software you have installed.

Gave this a shot but I don't have controlled folder access enabled; the only security software I use is Windows' inbuilt stuff and occasional runs of Malwarebytes that I uninstall between checks.

I continued scrolling down that support article and tried some of the fixes for disk write errors as well, just running steam/game separately as administrator and that seems to have helped for now, and I even tried just subscribing to like 10 more mods to see if it would trigger the same error but so far so good!

I have solved this problem for myself by simply deleting the Klei folder in My Documents entirely and then normally launching Oxygen Not Included. If you have other Klei games, you can probably get the same result from deleting the Oxygen Not Included folder inside of the Klei folder. Make sure you have Cloud saves enabled in Steam! Or backup your saves specifically on your hard drive.

Edit: Another action I took was uninstalling OneDrive from Windows completely. I am not sure if this was necessary, but try doing this also if my first step doesn't work.
