Duplicants not moving

I just recently bough this game. After I saved my game once, the duplicants stopped moving or doing any tasks,although the rest of the controls are working. I have tried pressing the play tab, relaunching and the duplicants are still frozen.

Steps to Reproduce

I opened my saved game and the duplicants are not moving. I tried opening a new game and the same problem happened for me.

Are the gases and liquids still animating or is everything frozen? 

It sounds like your game is paused, press spacebar or the pause symbol (the "||" symbol) in the top left of the screen to unpause. The single, double, and triple triangles select between 1x, 2x, and 3x game speeds but do not unpause the game.
