Hello.
When farmer duplicant use farming station to create nutrient something (not remember this name exactly) from fertilizer this chore increase machinery stat. When duplicant aplied nutrient something on plant it is again increase machinery stats. Should be agriculture stats.

BTW: You actualy polish this game pretty good. So maybe show some love to duplicant Bio panel. There should be some indication which skill actually gain some xp, and maybe stats progress ?? No some lame "Strenght: 0".
And btw2: I really like bionick pack.
