Desalinators are normally able to process both salt water and brine into regular water, and are able to process mixed packets of both salt water and brine without issue. However the beta patch completely broke the ability of desalinator to process salt water.
You can see the mixed packets of salt water and brine here, but the salt water accumulates inside the desalinator's storage and is no longer processed. If the desalinator is deconstructed and rebuilt, the contained salt water is dropped on the ground and the rebuilt desalinator continues to process incoming brine and store salt water until it reaches 20kg stored again, then stops working.
The desalinator is powered and the plumbing system allows output to flow normally, those are not the source of a problem.
I rebuilt the supplying pump to only input salt water instead of mixed salt water and brine packets, and it refused to process any of the salt water at all, showing that the presence of brine packets was not the cause of the problem.
Supply a desalinator with salt water in beta patch 697712. It will not process the salt water at all. It will process brine as normal.
