All mods uninstalled and re-installed

Every time the game updates (and sometimes when Steam updates or just launches), all mods are uninstalled and re-installed.

Most off the times not all mods are reinstalled, leaving them at 0 B when you check the workshop

One of these times (mod never reinstalled properly) I had to reinstall the whole game (that bug hopefully doesn't crash the game anymore even if it happens)

I know in most cases, steam is responsible for it but isn't there a way to prevent it from happening on every single update?

Steps to Reproduce

Have a lot of mods. Update game. Look the screen darken more and more as all mods of your list are installed again one by one...

its an issue that affects everyone equally and is supposedly due to klei using an ancient and unsupported workshop api, but I'll leave that to klei to confirm or deny whether it is/was the case or such...
