weight plates aren't triggered where duplicants are standing to operate buildings

The weight plate isn't being triggered while duplicants operate buildings. I wanted to deny passage for duplicants if both ore scrubbers are being used, so I wired up two weight plates - where they are standing while they operate the scrubber - with a checkpoint. The weight plates are not triggered while they operate the ore scrubber, but they are being triggered just fine when they walk past.

The setup would be working fine if the duplicants were triggering the weight plates as you can see on the 3rd picture.

Steps to Reproduce
build two ore scrubbers, two weight plates, wire them up with an 'and' and a 'not' gate to a duplicant checkpoint
Go to bugs

Try to place the pressure plate one more tile to the right. The dupes are standing where the orange progress bar is (regardless where they are in the middle of the animation). That's the place where the animation for the ore scrubber will start and end, too.
