Water Disappears

I've found that water just disappears on me under certain circumstances. 

In the attached image, I intentionally drained a large collection of water in the upper left part of the screen into another collection of water directly below my base. You can see how the water is going down those steps and into the tunnel I dug. The intention was to combine the two and bring a water source closer to my base.

The problem is that as the upper body drained, the lower reservoir did not rise.

Steps to Reproduce
Try combining water sources similar to how I did in the attached image.
Go to bugs

I've also found that if I install a vanilla tile under a body of water that the water is replaced, rather than displaced, by the installed tile.

Here are a couple of pictures showing how water is not replaced rather than displaced when you install tiles in it. Is this intended behavior?
