When installing worldgen mods from steamworkshop it does not load any feature templates from the mod, only from the game data folder.
Issue reproduces easily with the worldgen mod I made last year and recently updated to work with your new steam workshop support:

Steps to Reproduce
1) Subscribe to https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1413765966 2) Enable Nubrion mod in the game 3) Start new game on the map Nubrion 4) See that there are no geysers on the entire map 5) Exit game and copy feature templates from the mod to the game folder 6) Start a new game on the Nubrion map 7) See that there are now geysers on the map

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.
