Steam engine reset steam stored

If you limit the input of steam less that 900 kg.. let say 850, and you load 850 kg to seam in engine, if you modify the quantity to let say 800 kg, or 50 kg, all the steam stored in the engine disappear, and resume loading from 0 kg
