Skill Page makes game unplayable, slows the game far down.

I'm using the Windows Steam edition, and yes I do have a lot of Workshop Mods added to it, but I have tried disabling them all and still get the same result. When I open the Skill Page at any time, the game slows to a crawl, struggling to move even one frame ahead, and makes learning skills nearly impossible. Luck might get me one, but otherwise the game is just not playable in this state. It's disappointing, this is one of my favorite games of all time. I hope this can end up fixed.

Tried with all mods disabled, too. Same result. Game doesn't crash, just slows to an absolute crawl and becomes unplayable. This seems to be tied to dupe animation within that menu, because the game is smooth as butter everywhere else so far.

Well, that's a good question. But it also feels like a moot point, too. It doesn't matter if any of the mods are on, or whether a save is loaded or a new game is started, the result is always the same. The Skill Window drags the game down to unplayable, and I can't advance any dupes to be able to properly progress in the game.

I don't have this problem. So it could be one of your mods. Something like Skills Master looks like it might patch the skill screen.

Actually, seems like it was the Duplicant Stat Selector if too high a number was used for attributes. Once I stopped even choosing those numbers, game runs smooth and I've been playing all day again. Thank you. I do have another issue, and once again there is no crash report because there is no associated crash. It doesn't render the game unplayable, either, but it is an inconvenience. I'll figure out how to post it though.

cannot repro any performance issues.

The bad performance is most likely caused by the bad coding of the "Ony skill master" mod, not a general game issue, turn that off and the performance issues should be gone

(Onys mods should be avoided in general, they have horrible code quality, often contain stolen code and have paywalled updates)

It's not caused by Ony Skill Master, I've had that enabled since starting this thread and the performance issues didn't result from it but from when I had Dupes attributes set to 50000+ and tried to learn a new skill. But I'll take your feedback on those mods to heart, just the same.

So, I say that Duplicant Stat Selector is the issue because I went and disabled ALL mods but that one and went into a new game, and it didn't take long to get a skill point, and then I went to level up and found that it dragged the game down hard, as the only enabled mod. But when I didn't crank those attributes up, all works well. But 50000 or so seems to be the sweet spot for this issue.

Given the fact that the skills screen does not have any effects or patches applied to it by DSS, it might be an issue of the game itself or your system in some way; 

I tried replicating the situation (attribute levels at or above 50k, new skill point available) but I could not notice any notable frame drops

Also I have no idea how you gave it a 50k values in the first place, the release build of the mod has limiters for +/- 10000 on the attribute input fields

I didn't use the fields, I edited the template I created so I could be faster at printing new dupes during gameplay. That directory is accessed most easily through the dupe creation screen when you are creating a template as you can choose to open the directory (a button with an image of a folder on it) where those profiles are located through the mod interface, and from there open the templates as you see fit. Oh, I also had to turn off stat balancing in the core settings for the mod.

Should be noted that this one is the one I have recently had success with, versus anything using 50k+ attributes.

Anyway, I'm not ruling anything out with my PC, it isn't the best computer in the world by any stretch of the imagination. So I don't doubt it playing a role in this issue. I'm glad to be able to play it again.

hm, it seems I should include that 10k cap to preset application as well then, values above that level will likely not result in any noticeable dupe performance gains as the tasks are near instant anyway.

The mod needs an update when the current beta goes live anyway; might as well include it there

Ah, okay, nice safety net that doesn't really cripple the mod. Now to figure out why the Jet Suits won't hold any oxygen.
