As documented in this thread, both the gas and liquid shut off valves check if the network has power, but they don't seem to consume any power from the network. Therefore, a whole network of them could run off a single charged battery forever.
Steps to Reproduce
Charge a tiny battery that's connected to a shutoff valve. Disconnect battery from a generator. Battery doesn't loose power with the shutoff valve connected to it.
