Rock Crusher operator invisible/ignored

When using the rock crusher, the dupe appears to miss automation triggers such as the weight plate and dupe sensor. See screenshot.

Its a visual error. The dupe is in fact standing in front of the crusher. You need to place the weight-plate 2 tiles to the left.

Every machine is operated in the center. Its confusing, because the visual effect is placed beside the machine.
