The robo-miner can not be placed without a foundation in any orientation. However, if it is placed on a door and the door is opened, it continues to work only if it is facing to the right.
If the game is reloaded, it will realize that it does not have a foundation, and will not work. Closing the door at this point will not cause it to recognize the foundation until the game is reloaded again.
Steps to Reproduce
Build a vertical door with a robo miner attached to the right side. Open the door, note that the robo miner does not notice the missing foundation. Reload the game, note that the robo miner now notices the missing foundation. Close the door, note that the robo miner does not notice the present foundation. Compare to behavior in all other orientations and note that it is different.
