Well, I don't know if this is a bug or "feature", if don`t like the portal dupes or materials, you can save game, next time the dupes/material will be different, useful it you need determinant type of worker(a chef, or arquitect)

Steps to Reproduce
Simply save the game and load again.
Go to bugs

It seems the forum generally view it as a feature and it could very well be widely used. Interestingly there is a mod for doing this without reloading and it's the 10th most subscribed tweak mod. I think it would be fair to say that a number of people would be disappointed if this feature is changed now. Intentionally or not, it has become a part of the game.
