Rehydrator stays non-functional if put in rocket and "Grounded" has been used.

  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Linux Pending

When using rehydrator in rocket, if using "Grounded" option while in dock, the rehydrator is magically unavailable to the dupes (for rehydrating purposes) -- especially when rocket has landed on remote destination.

Deconstruct/Reconstruct dos not make it functional alone. But if deconstructed+reconstructed, saving, then reloading that save, will usually make it work. Especially if dupes are on a schedule where they can eat all they want the entire cycle.

Not entirely sure if its entirely related, but rehydrator in rocket occasionally stops working and needs the above mentioned treatment to get it working again.

Steps to Reproduce

This happened consistently but my methodology to resolve it was not as consistent.

When you say "in dock" are you referring to the rocket being in orbit or on the ground? Could you attach a save file? Thanks!

I've tried all weekend to set it up, as i forgot to write down which saves it was affecting. And i found one that *might* be relevant.
The problem was that , unlike my first experiences (3) these fixed themselves after reload. And since i was looking for the problem, i reloaded after i saved where one dupe couldn't grab their food (Catalina on Toxalin) - the save should show her munching lettuce. It only happens if their source of food is primarily on the rocket (dupes living out of the rocket), and dupes will run out and grab other foods if rehydrators are unavailable, so if they have stuff laying on the ground (a fresh planet), i won't notice at first.

Another thing i noticed is that *only* sometimes, when this problem happens, the game starts to behave much more jittery, frame time erratic, as if a background process is hogging the CPU, before rehydrator bug manifests. I've added the one candidate, and ill keep looking. I don't want to sacrifice too much playtime for it, so I'll just send my dupes back to Ughalin (main base) a bit more often.  The problem manifests almost certainly when these things have happened during the same play session;

Dupes leave Ughalin, Grounded=on
Dupes land on platform on new world, Grounded is then turned off (otherwise they can't pee/use the rehydrators etc).
Dupes roam around being dupes, and after a cycle or three, problem starts to manifest.

EDIT: Basically I'm honing in on the bug, but i don't have the patience to sacrifice playtime for it :)

Ran across this lovely problem. If dehydrator is out of water, the second dehydrator is never considered (dupes will starve to death rather than look for the fully watered/filled rehydrator next to it).
