Probably a dupe, but it still happens. This is especially annoying on colonies where you want to let the wild critters roam.
Steps to Reproduce
Have liquid the critters can reach. See them getting stuck in liquid and not moving out of it, ever. May be over a reproduction cycle (not sure), i.e. the egg gets placed in liquid end the critter cannot get out after hatching.
A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.
