Overlapping port on automation gate doesn't have consistence.
Build a gate
Overlap a bridge : firstly, there's nothing preventing you to do so. If it's not a supported feature, why do to not prevent the bridge to be built then ?
You CAN build, but the game says you must unbuild :
And the persistance is coming : cancel the bridge, and the alert is staying. I didn't test, but I guess the gate won't work at all. Anyway, even if it does, we cannot keep those alert, in the notification list, nor in the primary overlay :
