new eggs aren't selectable until reload

When a drecko or a shine bug lays a new egg that egg is not selectable and hovering the mouse over it does not bring up the information screen.  These days I'm using the Spaced Out DLC and a handful of mods, but this was happening in the vanilla base game.  So far the only fix I've found is saving and reloading the game, so attaching a saved game file won't be helpful.

Steps to Reproduce

Build a ranch for dreckos or shine bugs.

Wait for them to lay an egg.

Mouse over the egg.

Notice no info box.

Notice clicking does not select it. 

Go to bugs

Some items are not selectable occasionally. One method is to sweep them (key[K]) and hover the mouse on the sweep mark below that item to select them.(sweep-and-select)

BTW, a fix to that issue is appreciable.
