Mealwood matures with mouse-over

My mealwood plants seemed to be taking forever to mature. The growth stage seemed to be farily on (ie not too tall). However, when I moved my mouse over the plant it immediately matured and was ready to harvest. I would have assumed this was a fluke of timing, but this happened for about 10 other plants. It seemed to skip various growth stages.

Steps to Reproduce
In my case, let mealwood plants mature. When left alone for a while, hoever mouse over them to see them mature to harvestable immediately.

So you're saying you saw the growth percent go from a random number to 100%?

Pretty much, yes. I didn't get a chance to see the exact percentage. The plants were immature (no moving lice), then the act of my mouse moving over them seemed to update their status to be harvest-able and covered with animated white lice. I didn't get to see the actual growth % before this. Perhaps I am not describing this well, sorry if this is the case.

I noticed a typo in my initial description too " The growth stage seemed to be farily on ..." should be " The growth stage seemed to be early on .."
