MacOS with Epic Games: DllNotFoundException [ERROR] EOS not initialized in time.

Howdy,

I'm not sure if this problem has been reported in the past, it seems you guys are trying to save resources by limiting the amount of searches I can make to once every 20 seconds, there's also no way for me to filter by any of the categories, versions or branches each of these issues are being attributed with by the people reporting the bugs. So maybe this is more spam into the 14878 issues you have, maybe it isn't.

I'm currently stuck in the splash screen with the Klei logo without any response from the game after any amount of time (I've waited 10min once). I'm currently using Epic Games and playing on MacOS Sonoma 14.8.2, with an Apple M1 Pro chip. The logs state a DllNotFoundException: libEOSSDK-Mac-Shipping assembly:<unknown assembly> type:<unknown type> member:(null) with [ERROR] EOS not initialized in time.

EOS here seems to be the epic games online service. Not sure if this is a common error or not just seems weird.

The logs below:

Steps to Reproduce
  • Install Epic Games on Mac OS Sonoma 14.8.2, 16 GB memory, Apple M1 Pro.
  • Install Oxygen not included with Spaced Out and Bionic Booster Pack.
  • Try to run the game and witness a frozen splash screen.
  • The problem persists with different screen resolutions, both in windowed and full screen mode.

User Feedback

Hey there, thanks for the quick reply. That thread exactly solves the issue. It seems epic games is suddenly not recognising ONI to be needing rosetta, however I also noticed that ONI.app has the "kind" as Application (Universal), which might be the reason for why it's running without rosetta as it should have Application (Intel) in order to be correctly associated with rosetta execution.

Launching epic games with rosetta forces ONI to run with rosetta too when launched through their application.

Thanks for the help!
