MAC OSX Stuck on Klei Screen

  • Branch: Live Branch Version: OSX Fixed

I tried to open ONI This Friday and I cannot make it past the Klei logo. The game seems to launch, I get the OSX notice that game mode is activated, then after that nothing. It was working just fine sometime earlier in the week and I don't believe I've changed anything.

Epic Store
The installed version is 693461-osx
Mac Studio, M4 Max 64GB RAM

Currently on Tahoe 26.1 - I upgraded this yesterday to see if that was the issue but it persists. I don't remember the previous verison of OS I was on, but the problem persists.

I tried to verify the game files and I get an "unknown error occured" notice, but the process bar seems to go by quickly.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and that doesn't help. I don't appear to have any log files in the path the website says I can find them in. I've followed several troubleshooting articles on the forums and have gotten nowhere.

When I fully deleted the game and re-installed I did get the cloud sync to go and it downloaded my save games. It won't launch.
I turned off use cloud saves from epic and tried that and no success.
I've uninstalled spaced out and it still won't work.

Steps to Reproduce

Launch it from the epic library, or from spotlight, or from clicking the executable file in finder.

User Feedback

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

Wow, yes, I do have rosetta installed, I've been playing for some time in this environment. But on the "more info" page the option was unchecked for ONI. I added the check and managed to launch the base game to the menu screen. However, when I attempt to launch from Epic Games it still hangs on the Klei logo.

When I launched from finder with the rosetta option clicked, the base game launched.
When I attempt to launch from epic, with spaced out added, I'm stuck at the Klei logo.

Is it possible to run the Epic Games Launcher with Rosetta the same way? It sounds like the game process is inheriting the settings from the launcher.

That seems to have fixed it. I managed to launch ONI base from Epic after I also checked run with rosetta. It had defaulted to Resolution 6016x3384 @60Hz Fullscreen in the game menu, I switched it back to 3840x2160.

I also installed Spaced Out through Epic, and managed to launch that from within the epic app.

Seems that at some point in the last week something caused epic to disassociate with the rosetta settings? This particular problem, as far as I could tell hasn't been documented anywhere. Perhaps I changed something without noticing. I did install Spotify, and updated some other apps.

Either way, thanks for the help the problem seems solved. Thank you so much.
