Linux - game does not start

Carburetto
  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Steam Pending

I tried the new linux version. When started, cpu usage goes to 100% for a while and then... nothing.

I am running debian on an intel nuc i5, 8 GB ram and no graphics card. Perhaps too low specs, I just thought I'd try.

Steps to Reproduce
Start the game from steam client on linux.

User Feedback

You think it might be your specs yet you failed to provide such info. Are you aware of how many i5s there are?

When you said it got to 100% CPU usage and then nothing ... did you force close the game? Judging from your CPU it could just be it takes a while to load. I have a i5-4278U (basically a slightly higher clock version of your CPU) and it takes like 20 seconds (in linux) before the main menu shows up.

Most games run on Linux or Mac using Steam consume 100% CPU.

My experience so far with the Linux build looks like this:

  1. After clicking "Play" the games seems to run (Steam, launches it, screen turns black)
  2. A guy cleaning the toilet is shown but instead of letters there just filled rectangles.
  3. An usual screen informing about the early access potential bugs is shown; music starts to play.
  4. Before I manage to click "Thanks for the heads up" the game quits.

Please make your own bug report as your situation seems unrelated to this report, also attach the game logs from ~/.config/unity3d/Klei/Oxygen Not Included/Player.log

First time I closed it (by doing "kill -9 pid" as there was no window) after a few minutes. I then tried again and let it run. After a while it quit on its own (checked ~10 minutes later).

This is weird, do you have the log from the 10 min run? The one you posted doesn't have anything that stands out, thinking maybe from 10 mins we might have something.
