In my survival I created the oil well -> petrol boiler -> hot petrol generator -> steam turbine resource loop where I fed turbine output directly into 3 oil wells. I thought 1 turbine would be enough, as I was automating the petrol generators. So the ST's single output went into a 3-way split, each oil well having a dedicated line. The oil wells were left unautomated, as I didn't want water sitting in pipes in a 140°C steam/CO2 room.
Later I found out, that this intermittent supply of water causes a huge lag spike. With "empty pipe" status on the oil well, nothing else is considered and any errands asking for a dupe to release pressure are periodically aborted, re-issued, aborted, until the oil well is completely jammed with natural gas.
Attached is a debug save with no mods used a only the relevant part recreated.
Workaround: set oil well pressure threshold to 100%, I guess.
Feed an oil well from a 3-way pipe split, from a 2 kg/s source. Observe dupe behaviour, game performance when back pressure threshold is crossed.
