When you change jobs with dupes and exit the job menu they will already have the new hat on, and then they will take it off.... and put if back on.... and dance for joy.
Removing all jobs then assigning jobs back while dupes are asleep can cause some to get hat confusion, and wind up not wearing one when they wake up. Will try to catch a screen shot of that one next time it happens.
