Some clay tiles become overpopulated with slimelung. The game reports them as dying out both due to overpopulation and due to living on solid, but the actual death rate is minuscule - single digits of dead germs per cycle. Once the item loses enough germs to lose the overpopulated status, the germs start quickly dying out, as expected.
It seems that overpopulation and dying out due to bad environment are not summed/multiplied properly and work against each other.
Steps to Reproduce
Let a clay tile surrounded by slime tiles get overpopulated by slimelung germs, then dig it out.
