I am also getting this bug this morning, have removed, reinstalled and verified the files as well as removing most mods. still have this error.

debug console crashes (and is generally useless as you can just open the log in a file editor like VSCode or Npp) - uninstall that

Deleting  Documents/Klei/OxygenNotIncluded/mods/mods.json worked & game starts, but now opening the mods folder crashes the game with no dialogue

appreciate the assistance, am learning.

yes, the mods button in the main menu. as requested

I didn't know about the player.log file, had a read and figured out how to clean up the files that shouldn't have been in there. ended up deleting kleiItemData and that seemed to resolve the issue

The crash issue after Hotfix 644960 appears to be related to various mods by @ONY of which I had about five active, such as . All other mods I use worked fine with those removed. The distinction between those mods and the rest was the existence of a subfolder "config" under the folder "mods". I have more specific details in your Steam Bugs and Technical forum. Remove those mods and the subfolder and everything is fine. I let @ONY know on various platforms as well as Github. Hope this helps.
