game crashes on startup - "missing strings"

when I try to start the game none of the menu buttons work and they all say 'missing strings' as well as their function. I'm using NVIDIA graphics card which is up to date. I'd be incredibly grateful if you could find a solution. Judging by all the let's plays I've been watching it is a really brilliant game!

No. I'm wondering if it's an issue with MSI graphics cards. Someone mentioned this as a possibility and when someone lent me a laptop with a different one it played fine. Which makes me really happy cos I can play it now :D
