game crashes on loading saved game, sometimes

It looks like the game is missing the OxygenNotIncluded_Data folder, which is puzzling since you can sometimes launch the game. Try verifying game files in Steam. Did you install Steam as a flatpak?

Weird, I have uploaded the wrong Player.log somehow. I was trying things I found on the internet to try fix it, and one was to remove that folder. I've uploaded a newer Player.log file that does not include the error for the missing StreamingAssets path.

Please close this, I've discovered that switching to an older proton version fixed the issue so far.

Were you playing on Proton before or the native version of the game? 

Native, but I went into the "Compatibility" screen, clicked "Force the use of specific steam play compatibility tool", and chose "Proton Experimental"
