Game crashes after 5 minutes no matter what

I commented in another thread earlier (edit: https://forums.kleientertainment.com/klei-bug-tracker/oni/game-crash-with-unity-after-apdate-r26743/) but I'm not sure if it's the same problem anymore.

After the new update the game has been crashing in 5 minutes from launch. I can't find where the issue is because it doesn't matter what I'm doing, the game just crashes 5 minutes in. I can be playing a saved game, starting a new game, or just stay in the main menu.. the game freezes up after 5 minutes pass.
I used to think it was a problem with the save files, but they play fine and the game crashes long before an auto save happens so that can't be it.
It starts not responding until I force it to shut down so I can't even report the crash to steam.. anyone else having this problem?

Edit: Done all basic trouble shooting: Updated drivers, checked anti-viruses, verified files with no probs
Edit 2: Reinstalled the game, still no fix
