Game crash at menu Unity 2022.3.62f2_7670c08855a9

When launching the game, it loads normally through the Klei screen and reaches the main menu. The menu appears and the music begins playing, but after about one second the game freezes and the Unity Crash Handler window appears. Once the crash handler finishes loading, the game closes.

This happens every time the game is launched. The issue started suddenly today, and I have not changed any mods or settings since I last played yesterday. I also did not install any driver or Windows updates before the issue began.

I get this text in the log. 

Graphics device is null.
Crash!!!


I have

  • Shutdown computer

  • Removed all mods

  • Reinstalled the game

  • Validated game files

  • Change display settings

  • No overlays running 

  • No manual GPU overclocking

  • Update GPU drivers

Edit: After further testing, I found that disabling the Spaced Out! DLC allows the game to load normally. Re‑enabling the DLC causes the crash to return immediately. I only have Spaced Out! installed.

Steps to Reproduce

Launch the game from Steam

Wait for the main menu to appear

After 1 second, the game freezes

Unity crash handler appears

Game closes

Go to bugs

I managed to resolve the issue. I realized the mods were still present locally even after unsubscribing from them on Steam. After deleting the mod folder in my Documents, the game was able to load normally.
