Some falling items - especially from large height and at high game speed - will clip into rock below and embed themselves into it, becoming "buried item". This happens very frequently in "vertical" colonies, with central ladders spanning most of the colony's height.
When the items drop from a very large height, they may even clip through the first layer of rock and bury themselves in the second layer.
This sometimes results in items that can't be retrieved, item deletion on game load, and floating "buried item" without rock to support it.
Steps to Reproduce
1. Build a long ladder (say, from starting point to oil biome's abyssalite border) 2. Set highest speed 3. Have duplicant drop an item from the top of the ladder to the bottom 4. Repeat a few times if necessary (should not require many tries
