Entire HUD went missing, cannot build, etc. Pressing esc to open the game menu results in the game freezing as if the menu had opened, and clicking in random places where options to click things in the menu would be emits the sound that clicking something in the menu would make. I closed the game, and when trying to launch again, steam said the game was still running even though the icon had gone away.

 

Steps to Reproduce
I had just loaded a save game, the game froze for a second, and it happened.

I had the same happen to me after I reloaded a game and alt tabbed out of the game during that reload. At first I saw the hud, then the game froze for a second and it was gone. I realised after 30 seconds that the game went to screenshot mode(alt+s). Pressing that combination fixed it for me. This was with 13 cycle old colony
