Duplicants fabricating items at buildings will sometimes replay their "fabricating" animation for a few seconds after the progress bar has completed, still consuming power but not actually contributing towards the next fabrication errand. In my experience, this has happened more often than not, stifling the efficiency of my base due to my Duplicants only "pretending" to fabricate for about 10 seconds (at 1x speed) after each progress bar completes. This can be observed while any Duplicant is using (apparently) any fabrication building, including but not limited to: Metal Refineries, Rock Crushers, Manual Radbolt Generators, Glass Forges, and Microbe Mushers.
I have attached two videos showcasing this issue. In the first video, you can see Rowan fabricating Lime at the Rock Crusher. After completing the progress bar on his first fabrication errand, he instantly moves onto the next scheduled Lime fabrication. However, after he fills up the second errand's progress bar, he restarts his fabrication animation and fiddles about for a while before he actually moves onto the next errand. As you can imagine, while these pauses are tiny, they add up, potentially racking up minutes of missed labor and tens or even hundreds of wasted kilojoules per cycle if your Duplicants are fabricating often.
For your convenience, I have also attached the save used in these videos.
1. Schedule multiple fabrications in a row at any fabrication building of your choice. Note that it has to be Duplicant operated (Kilns are a notable exception).
2. Watch your Duplicants fabricate. Notice that your Duplicants are sometimes fabricating without a progress bar underneath them while still consuming power.
