I was building a new barracks for my dupes, and one of my new dupes decided to choose the new barracks. I noticed at night and attempted to correct it by moving him to the last bed in the good barracks (because it has good decor). When I assigned him to the bed, it highlighted one of the other beds in the new barracks. I selected the new bed and it said it was his, as well as the new bed. Here are two images, one selecting each bed. I don't know yet if it actually messes up whether a dupe is assigned to the bed.

1: Have one dupe with 2 unassigned beds and a bed assigned to a dupe (so 3 beds) 2: While the dupe is sleeping, assign the dupe to another bed 3: Notice 2 of the 3 beds claim to be assigned to the dupe.
