Dupe not using assigned mess table

I was assigning one of my dupes a new job when I noticed my great hall bonus wasn't included in his total. Following him during dinner time showed he ate on the floor near the fridge. I checked and he is assigned to one of the mess tables, but sometimes 2 different dupes don't eat in their mess tables, and are limited in which jobs they can perform by this.

I've had this happen if I build the medbay first.  Dupe gets assigned to the medbay dining table, then the table is reassigned automatically to medbay once the room construction is complete.  I would have to manually assign the dupe to a proper mess table and then they would start using it.

On a related but less critical note, at least as recently as pre-RU, new dupes would auto-assign themselves a mess table on their first meal but not actually use it until their second meal.  Given they are always at a low morale requirement being in new tier 1 jobs, it's not a crucial issue.
