Got an actual hard crash out of it last night, this may help a little.

What are your specs?

Core I5 M520 2.4ghz

6gb ram 

windows 10

intel hd graphics

all my drivers are up to date, have tried rolling back windows updates as previously mentioned, I have also tried many other work arounds to no avail sadly. scaling, windowed,... The problem seems to also accompany other games that are rather resource easy. "Unity" games. 

I had just become quite addicted to this game and sadly have lost access to it...
