Beads germ deletion bug

Fradow
  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Windows Pending

When creating beads (by placing a mesh tile just under a vent for example) with germy liquid, parts of the germs are straight up deleted at a significant rate.
The more beads are created (with the same overall flow rate of 10kg/s), the more germs are deleted.

This was tested with Food Poisoning germs in water and polluted water.

Here is a testing setup (included save files at the beginning and end of the test):

At the top, 6 setups to test looping polluted water in an environment that mostly prevent off-gassing. 30 tiles of 1000kg of polluted water with 1.000.000 germs per tile were looped, for a total of 30.000.000 germs. At the end, the approximate number of germs:

  1. 875.000 per tile in 30 tiles, for a total of 26.250.000 germs. 12.5% germs where deleted by simply being transferred to the vent.
  2. 675.000 per tile in 30 tiles, for a total of 21.600.000 germs. 32.5% germs where deleted by 1 vent.
  3. 350.000 per tile in 30 tiles, for a total of 11.200.000 germs. 65% germs where deleted by 5 vents.
  4. 160.000 per tile in 30 tiles, for a total of 4.800.000 germs. 84% germs where deleted by 10 vents.
  5. 65.000 per tile in 32 tiles, for a total of 2.080.00 germs. 93% germs where deleted by 16 vents.
  6. 4.000 per tile in 40 tiles, for a total of 160.000 germs. 99.5% germs where deleted by 40 vents.

At the bottom, 7 setups to test transferring 5t of polluted water containing a total of 4.600.000 germs. At the end, the approximate number of germs:

  1. 930.000 per tile, total 4.650.000 germs
  2. 4.730.000 germs
  3. 115.000 germs. 97.5% of the germs were cleaned by the Chlorine atmosphere.
  4. 310.000 per tile, total  1.550.000 germs. 66% of the germs were deleted by 1 vent.
  5. 125.000 per tile, total 625.000 germs. 86.5% of the germs were deleted by 5 vents.
  6. 75.000 per tile, total 750.000 germs. 84% of the germs were deleted by 10 vents.
  7. strange things happened, germs seem more concentrated on the right than on the left. Here there seems to be more germs, not less.

Thanks to Hotep Thunderbolt for finding out that bug and helping me with the investigation.

Edit: this is very probably an unintended consequence of this fix:

Steps to Reproduce

Pass germ-infected liquid through a Vent with a Mesh tile just below it to create a bead. This deletes part of the germs.
