Warning Assertion Failed?

I was just playing Don't Starve: Hamlet and when just as it was transitioning into nighttime, it crashed and I got this message:

What happened here?

 

I am playing on Mac. This has never happened to me before. I've played Hamlet multiple times with no issues and I've burnt 291 hours total into Don't Starve in general and this never happened.

Steps to Reproduce
It was transitioning into nighttime, and I was just walking around. It was day 1.

Judging from the fact that only this one function in the stategraph file has an assertion, I'm guessing that the laser starting without a target is a known problem they're trying to figure out.
