If you hired Royal Guard with security contract, it will stop working when full moon appears (or you are far enough from your hired Royal Guard, I am not sure about it).
Steps to Reproduce
1. Hire Royal Guard before Full Moon. 2. Wait for Full Moon and/or go far enough so you will be a few screens away from hired Guard. 3. When Full Moon appears, check if they all still hired.
