Game often crashes, mostly during attempt to save

The game keeps crashing - especially when the game automatically starts the saving process. The saving fails and the game crashes/is closed, and all progress made is then lost. It also crashes randomly when I play, without me doing anything specific.

Been wondering if the problem could lie in my PC, but I doubt that as no other programs are running when I play, and there is plenty of space on my harddrive.

Steps to Reproduce
When the game automatically starts saving, the saving fails and the game crashes.
Go to bugs

to fix: enable Small Textures and NetBook and close any non-needed background apps
