Food left on the ground inside a room doesn't leave rot or rotten eggs

I left a bunch of food (monster meat, some vegetables and eggs) on the ground inside a temple and i went adventuring for a few days.

When i came back to the temple the food left on the ground disappeared without leaving any rot or rotten eggs.
