Room of Death

So i'm in a Ruinous Cave entrance i found in the grasslands

and i make my way back to the entrance room
when all of a sudden when i enter it the screen is pitch-black, i can't see the entrance, my torch doesn't give off light, and the bats in the room promptly murder me.
